Burglar Resistance
In May 2011, the NSAI published the first Irish and EU Burglar Resistance security standard IS EN 1627:2011 for doors.
The scope of IS EN 1627:2011 specifies requirements and classification systems for burglar resistant characteristics of door-sets.
Special classes, known as Resistance Classes 1 – 6, denote the degree of burglar resistance provided. With each class the norm differentiates between diverse types of intruders, time allowed, used tools and displayed behaviour. Class 1 is the lowest resistance level with Class 4 the highest appropriate for residential installation.
